SANCTIONED EVENTS 2026
*Calendar to be released soon!*
As EURA, we realize that it may be logistically and financially challenging for some teams to participate in ETS events. However, we are aware that talented players are scattered all over Europe. Therefore, we want to increase the opportunity of achieving EURA Pro status while decreasing logistical or financial challenges for our players by having sanctioned events.
Why is it beneficial for local communities to host?
Hosting a sanctioned event isn't just about the points; it’s about growing your local ecosystem.
-
Elevated Exposure: Sanctioning puts your city on the European map, drawing in high-level talent that local players might not otherwise get to face.
-
Club Credibility: Successfully running a sanctioned event is a "proof of concept" that shows EURA and sponsors your club is ready to host even larger events, like an ETS event.
-
Community Growth: These events act as a catalyst for local recruitment. Seeing a high-level Pro/Contender split inspires local beginners and gives your community a clear pathway from casual play to elite competition
-
Economic & Social Impact: Bringing in players from other regions supports local businesses and fosters the "Roundnet Family" spirit through social events and shared competition.
How many teams are awarded Pro status at Sanctioned Events?
To ensure a high level of competition, sanctioned events must have Open and Women's Contender divisions. Pro status is awarded to the top finishers in the Contender division as follows:
-
Open Contender Division: If there are min. 16 Contender teams, the top 2 Contender teams qualify for Pro status.
-
Women’s Contender Division: If there are min. 12 Contender teams, the top 2 Contender teams qualify for Pro status.
Note on Merging: In cases where a Pro division has fewer than 4 teams, organizers may merge the Pro and Contender divisions. However, the qualifying rules remain unchanged (the top-placed non-pro teams still need to meet the minimum team counts listed above to earn status).
The "Pass-Down" Rule: If a team or a player on the team already holds Pro status, the spot passes to the next best-placed team. This "pass-down" is capped at the top 3 positions.
Example: If 2 teams already holding Pro status finish in the top 3, the qualification status is only passed down to the 3rd place team.
Can players earn ETS ranking points at a Sanctioned Event?
Yes, but only under specific conditions. To earn points for the ETS ranking in a Pro division, there must be a minimum of 8 Pro teams competing in that division.
Points from Sanctioned event can be viewed here.
Can players requalify for Pro for the 2027 season?
Yes, but only under specific conditions. There must be a minimum of 8 Pro teams competing in that category for top 4 teams to requalify for Pro status for the 2027 season.
